The Calorie Lie - that we have been force fed for decades
We are told that, to be slim, to achieve this goal that we want more than anything in the world, we just need to eat less and/or do more. If this worked there wouldn't be an obesity problem; let alone an epidemic. As soon as you eat less than you need, you get hungry (i.e. you want to eat more) and you get tired (i.e. you want to do less). You are immediately in the position of actually wanting to eat more and do less - the opposite of what dieticians intended to happen. It is fundamentally wrong to send a human into starvation mode - in short - you will be hungry and starve yourself of much needed energy and nutrients. This is WRONG!
Worse than that, it actually makes us fat.
- We become hungry, we crave food, our body sends hunger signals on an hourly basis to get us to eat and eventually we listen to it and give in.
- We replace fat with carbohydrates. This has an immediate impact on insulin levels and it is this, and not calories, that makes us fat.
- We restrict our variety of food and this directly causes insatiable food cravings. I'll explain how.
- We slow our metabolisms down. The result is weight gain from the same number of calories that used to lose us weight.
- We weaken our immune systems by denying our bodies the energy that we need each day. This opens the door to the three conditions that cause food cravings.
This is wrong. Cravings are not our fault.
There are three medical conditions, which cause insatiable food cravings, and the majority of the population suffer from at least one of these.
I have made the connection between these well-documented conditions and how they make us overeat and overweight.
